Company Information

Petrochemicals (M) Sdn Bhd, the first polystyrene (PS) producer in ASEAN is a subsidiary of Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd., Japan. Established in 1972 and being a pioneer in the Malaysia, the company had the honour to name herself with the name of the industry.
 
Having gone through various phases of expansion and diversification, the company has today become the leading PS player in the region. Its total HIPS capacity is 110,000 metric tons per annum. Since 1997, the Company had synchronized with the STYRENIC BUSINESS STRATEGY of the Idemitsu Group and is playing an increasingly important role in the regional PS trade.
 
Besides natural resins, the company is also providing Compounding and Colouring services for Flame Retardant grades to meet specific safety and quality requirements of electrical home appliances and IT products for the international market.
 
 
 
 
1997
When Idemitsu SM (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd commenced commercial production of its 200,000 metric ton Styrene Monomer (SM) plant in Pasir Gudang (2009:240,000 mt/year), the Idemitsu Group`s polymer and monomer production in the country have since become integrated.
 
2009
Petrochemicals (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd shifted the company’s HQ and Compounding facilities from Tampoi industrial estate to the Idemitsu Group’s 274 acres of industrial land in Pasir Gudang. The Idemitsu industrial park is equipped with the group’s exclusive chemical jetty.
